Is it wrong to play it safe?

My crush and I met at a Halloween party last year. We clicked instantly and spent all of our time together, whether we were studying, watching TV, going to frat parties, eating lunch, etc. We flirt and tease each other too and find any excuse to text/call each other. His best friends from high school came to visit and they knew all about me. We are both so shy that I don't know if the feelings are one sided. I am scared to ask him his feelings because I don't want to jeopardize our awesome friendship but I don't want to miss out on what could be a beautiful relationship. Are we just friends or more?
