My snake eats 2 pinkies...?

Lately i have been feeding my snake 2 pinkies instead of 1, and he eats the right away. I wonder if i should start feeding him live mice? I read somewhere that you shouldnt feed the snake anything that is wider then its body, and live mice are a little thicker then what he is. Should i keep feeding him 2 pinkies or start feeding him live mice?
