Do female directors portray women differently to male directors?

No the gender of a director definitely will not affect the movie, or a way a woman is portrayed. Your examples that you have given show that you are looking for a different answer. However, I would not say that a female director of Bridget Jones has portrayed women differently to having a male director. Plus Bridget Jones was originally taken from a book and the character has all ready been created.
