New fridge making crackling noises?

Our apartment manager ordered a new fridge and we got it today. It's been making a loud crackling noise as if it were on fire. Spitting and sputtering, popping and crackling. It's driving me crazy. I've also noticed that after being on for about 10 hours now, there's not much cool air and the setting is a little over halfway up.
