Give reasons why the metis, first nations and north westerns were opposed to selkirk settlers?

Basically they saw them coming and grabbing 'their' land. This would mean fewer miles of trap lines and fewer animals to hunt. They also felt somewhat cornered because they saw history repeating itself. The metis didn't even have the little bit of protection Treaty Peoples got through the Indian Act of the day.
